Felt making workshops

Fleece, water and friction make it, but felt is more than the sum of its parts. Its appeal and the spell it casts need to be experienced.

Felt is a piece of living nature.

Aims of the course are

To explore structure and properties of wool (i.e. why does it shrink)
To learn some historical facts and myths about felting
To develop a design for an object (i.e. felted jewelry or a bag) and
To discover the process of felting making those designs

What happens

We will explore properties of wool in some simple experiments, and I will tell some stories of how felt came into being.

I will help participant to develop a design and we will do some hands-on felting, discovering its magic.

The participants will create a unique and useful item to enjoy and discover a resourceful way of living.

Who can take part

It is an introduction to felting and every-one with an interest in wool and what one can do with it is welcome.

Felt - it emerges from a nomadic past, bringing with it all the properties, which will make it the material of the third millennium.
